CSVL in the Community

In addition to serving our clients’ needs, CSVL is committed to serving the community in which we work and live. We support our team’s involvement in individual volunteer and philanthropic efforts through various community organizations. The CSVL Community Engagement Committee further encourages our team’s commitment to the community by organizing and participating in quarterly projects aimed at meeting the area’s needs.

CSVL Atlanta Volunteers at Berean Community Services Food Bank – June 4, 2022

Saturday, June 4, 2022, CSVL Atlanta had the privilege of working alongside the amazing staff and volunteers at the Berean Community Services Food Bank. Special shout out to all of our CSVL participants and their families; we had 17 representatives from every department in our Atlanta office! WOW, way to start the service year with a bang.

Lee Weatherly Volunteers for San Antonio Food Bank during NRRDA Annual Conference – March 2022

NRRDA Annual Conference in San Antonio, TX provided an opportunity to do some good for a group of committed conference attendees!  Each year NRRDA partners with a local food bank in their host city, this year it was the San Antonio Food Bank and attendees met the call to action! CSVL’s Lee Weatherly is no stranger to community service, so it is not surprising he joined the project. Thank you, Lee, for your dedication to the greater good!

CSVL Charleston Office Collects Holiday Gifts for HALOS Angel Tree – December 2021

The Copeland, Stair, Valz & Lovell Charleston office collected gifts for the HALOS Angel Tree project again in 2021. HALOS’ primary goal is to provide resources and special opportunities to abused and neglected children. The office fulfilled 24+ HALOS children’s Christmas wish list and injected a bit of cheer into the holidays! Special thanks to CSVL’s Chelsea Kirkland for spearheading the event every year!

The outpouring by the entire office was overwhelming. HALOS is a local charity that provides support to children and their caregivers at a local level. For more information on HALOS, click here.

CSVL Chattanooga Supports Chattanooga Community Kitchen This Holiday Season – December 2021

This holiday season, CSVL Chattanooga again supported our local homeless population through the Chattanooga Community Kitchen. The Kitchen is open 365 days a year and offers bathrooms, showers, day shelter, meals, clothing, case management, housing assistance, and more to Chattanooga’s homeless. During the winter, the Kitchen also offers overnight shelter. The Kitchen relies heavily on volunteer donations and support.

CSVL Chattanooga collected and donated food, clothing, cleaning supplies, and household goods for the Kitchen. Donations were delivered to the grateful Kitchen staff on December 13.

CSVL Beach Sweep 2021

On Saturday, October 9, 2021 Team CSVL hit the beaches in an effort to do our part in clearing trash and debris from our Charleston area shores.  Folly Beach, just south of our Charleston office, was the location where attorneys, support staff, and their family members came together to do beautify the beaches. Special thanks to partners Sarah Butler and Tyler Winton for organizing!

CSVL Chattanooga Office Joins GreenSteps Chattanooga in Community Clean-Up – June 2021

CSVL’s Chattanooga office joined GreenSteps Chattanooga for a community clean-up on June 12, 2021. GreenSteps is a 501c organization that plans monthly clean-ups designed to involve the community and emphasize the need for personal and communal interface with nature, and tangible ways to solve environmental problems around greater Chattanooga.

GreenSteps mission is “To enable and incentivize citizens to eradicate litter across Tennessee by means of education, community clean-ups, and anti-litter infrastructure.” CSVL is proud to support GreenSteps’ efforts and enjoyed time spent outdoors! Win-Win!!

CSVL Attorneys Participate in Charleston Area Habitat Build – March 2021

CSVL Charleston tries to participates in Habitat builds regularly. After a dismal 2020, we were finally able to get out and build again!

Spearheaded by partner Tyler Winton, Habitat builds allow us to team build and help out in our community! It’s a win-win!

CSVL’s Chattanooga Office Spends Time Giving Back with the Chattanooga Community Kitchen

CSVL Attorneys, staff and families gave back to their local community by volunteering at Chattanooga Community Kitchen, helping prep for a Thanksgiving feast for Chattanooga’s most at-risk. This amazing organization helps the homeless by offering food, shelter and training. Chattanooga Community Kitchen’s mission statement says it all;

Our mission is to meet the most basic needs of hungry, homeless and vulnerable people in our community while offering a clear path to self-sufficiency.

Through all of the services we offer, we seek to satisfy the spiritual and physical hunger of people in Chattanooga. There are no fees or requirements for receiving our services; instead, they are offered out of love and compassion.

CSVL Participates in 9th Annual Georgia Legal Food Frenzy, Providing Thousands of Meals for Georgia Food Bank Association

CSVL is always proud to support our local communities, but particularly proud of our showing during the 2020 Georgia Legal Food Frenzy.  Between April 20th and May 1st CSVL attorneys and staff raised more than $5,000,  the equivalent of 20,954 meals for the Atlanta Community Food Bank! We joined other area law firms and legal organizations across Georgia in a competition, ultimately raising a record-breaking $852,090 during the 9th Annual Georgia Legal Food Frenzy. This is the equivalent of over 3.3 million meals for Georgia’s most vulnerable and at-risk!

CSVL Gives Back This Holiday Season by Participating in Donation Drive for the Homeless in Atlanta, GA – December 6, 2019

This holiday season, Copeland Stair participated in a bag donation drive in conjunction with Intown Collaborative Ministries, an Atlanta nonprofit organization.  Intown Collaborative Ministries works with other organizations in Atlanta to prevent, reverse and ultimately end homelessness and hunger in their city by establishing caring relationships with the community.

Beginning early November and running until December 6, the Georgia office of CSVL collected donation bags containing items ranging from coats and blankets to personal hygiene products.  By the end of the drive, there were 82 total bags collected with 58 of them containing coats.

CSVL Charleston Office Participated in Habitat for Humanity Build – April 27, 2019

CSVL Charleston attorneys, once again, participated in a Charleston-area Habitat for Humanity build on April 27, 2019.  Spearheaded by partner Tyler Winton, CSVLhas developed a long-standing relationship with the Charleston-area Habitat for Humanity Organization, giving back to our local communities by participating in area builds at least twice a year.
