Monica Dean

Associate / Atlanta

Monica Dean is an associate in the Atlanta office who practices in the areas of General Liability, Premises Liability, Construction Litigation, and Trucking and Transportation.  Additionally, Monica serves as an officer in the Georgia Air National Guard where she provides legal advice to military commanders and servicemembers.

Prior to joining Carlock Copeland & Stair, Monica practiced at an Atlanta-area civil litigation defense firm where she was lead counsel on jury trials involving automobile negligence and personal injury.  She served as a judicial staff attorney to the Honorable Kimberly M. Esmond Adams in the Superior Court of Fulton County and the Honorable James T. Chafin III in the State Court of Henry County.  Outside of the practice of law, Monica has volunteered as an attorney coach for the Georgia High School Mock Trial Program, and she routinely serves as a judge for the Empire Mock Trial Competition.  Monica was awarded the State Bar Young Lawyers Division Award of Achievement for Outstanding Service to the Profession as co-founder and co-chair of the Judicial Law Clerk Committee.

While in law school, she competed on the Black Law Students Association’s mock trial team and completed externships with the Honorable John J. Ellington in the Court of Appeals of Georgia (Judge Ellington currently serves on the Supreme Court of Georgia) and the Honorable Steve C. Jones in the Superior Court of the Western Judicial Circuit (Judge Jones currently serves on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia).  In addition, she tutored student-athletes as an academic tutor for the University of Georgia Athletic Department.
