Melissa M. Yates
Associate / Charleston
Melissa is an associate with the Charleston office of Copeland, Stair, Kingma, and Lovell. She is a graduate Wake Forest University and University of Virginia School of Law. At Wake Forest, she graduated summa cum laude with a double major in Philosophy and Communication, studied abroad at The Women’s College at the University of Sydney, and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and Best Buddies International. At UVA Law, she was a part of the Trial Advocacy, Moot Court, and Prosecution Clinic programs. For the past five years, Melissa has also been actively involved with the Association of Junior Leagues International, and she is currently a member of and volunteer with the Junior League of Charleston.
Prior to joining CSKL, Melissa served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Richard M. Gergel of the United States District Court of South Carolina in Charleston, a law clerk to the Office of University Counsel at the University of Virginia, and a law clerk to the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office in Lynchburg, VA.
