Alexander E. Davis

Alex Davis is a partner in the Charleston office of Copeland, Stair, Kingma & Lovell.  He has extensive experience in construction litigation, representing design professionals, contractors, subcontractors, and developers in complex claims, as well as providing non-litigation support and advice to construction clients.  Alex also routinely advises and defends insurers in insurance coverage and bad faith actions, in addition to representing clients in a variety of general liability and commercial tort claims, including personal injury, product liability, and premises liability actions.  Alex has successfully litigated cases at all levels of South Carolina’s state trial and appellate courts, as well as in the state’s federal courts.

Alex earned his B.A. in History from Wake Forest University and graduated cum laude from the University of South Carolina School of Law.  While in law school, he was a member of the South Carolina Law Review and was inducted into the Order of the Wig and Robe and the Order of the Coif.

Alex is an active member of the South Carolina and North Carolina Bars, the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM), the Defense Research Institute (DRI), and the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association (SCDTAA), where he was part of the inaugural Emerging Leaders Program.  Alex has written numerous legal articles for publication and routinely makes presentations to clients and insurers on issues facing the construction and insurance industries.
